LASIK LASIK is an acronym for "LAser in SItu Keratomileusis," a type of eye surgery approved by the FDA to treat myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. LASIK combines two technologies: the use of a microkeratome to cut a thin flap on the corneal surface which is then temporarily pulled back to allow the use of an excimer laser to reshape the underlying corneal tissue.
