Atrial Fibrillation
Atrial Fibrillation (A-Fib) is the most common form of arrhythmia that occurs in the heart. The atria (upper chambers of the heart) beat in a very rapid and irregular pattern and do not effectively pump blood into the ventricles (lower chambers of the heart). Atrial fibrillation is not usually life-threatening in itself, although it may cause lightheadedness, heart palpitations ("racing" heart) and increases the risk of blood clots and stroke. Atrial Fibrillation is usually treated with medications.
